Jewellery making

I dabble sometimes in making my own jewellery, mostly I make elasticated bracelets, some elasticated necklaces and I love to use memory wire. I've always searched the pages of ebay to find my items and usually buy things that I think are being sold quite cheap or mixed lots (which I am sometimes disapponted with as you often don't really know what you're getting). I've really fancied going to a bead shop and having a proper look around but it's not like you'd find one on every high street. I had a quick look online the other day to see where my nearest one would and was amazed that I found one just over 10 miles away. I went earlier with my mum and it was quite a small place but it was amazing. I could have bought loads but I resisted the urge to spend a fortune. I really wanted to price up buying some items to do a jewellery making session with some of the people I look after. They had some large bags of large holed beads and I have elastic coming out of my ears so I reckon I'll be going back soon to purcase some. In the mean time I had a fantastic idea for a wire necklace (something I've not had much practice at using) so I did buy some beads, wire and clasps. I'm hoping to have a finished product at sometime tomorrow and will upload a picture for your thoughts.

Spring fair

I like doing various crafts and as they don't just 'vanish' when made I sometimes go to the local churches/schools and sell some items. It's not a big money earner but I can't keep hold of everything I make. Well, this morning I was at a local church fair with some cards and some bracelets and for 2hrs worth of standing around (chatting to my sister who works for body shop at home and also sells body shop products at these fairs) I made just over £20. Not bad going for £10 an hour really. There's another one in a couple of weeks time but I'm working so I've talked my sister into havin a 'small' box of cards on her table so she can sell some for me (I'm surprised she has not yet asked for commission!)
I have been looking into selling some things on etsy (only recently heard of the site) or maybe creating my own site to sell some items. I know I'm not going to make a fortune, it's not about the money. I enjoy making these things but I am at a loss as to what to do with the finished products.

I don't know about anyone else but I really have not had the time to do much recently. I do know I seriously need to get moving with making some cards as I don't have many but have a stall at a church fair next saturday so really need to make sure I have a good assortment and keep my fingers crossed that I'll sell some.
I also need to do something for my step dad as it's his birthday in the week...... So much to do and so little time.

I've finished the boxes for my chicks and packaged them up ready for easter. I know it's early but I just wanted to be prepared and here's the pictures of them.
It was also my mothers birthday (card below) and I've only made one other recently and that is also below. As usual double click for larger image.
I've not had as much opportunity as I'd like recently to make cards, especially since I started my new job, but I'm hoping to get some more done over the next few days (and I will admit that some of the ones I make are copied right from a magazine, most are not though) and I really do want to get back to the jewellery design although I'm lacking in ideas as to what to do with the finished article as at least with the cards I get to use them. I've been doing a bit of knitting recently for work. I brought home a stack of wool to do differnet projects for them to sell at a church fete. Have so far made a spotty tea cosy (I have no tea pot so I can not display this at it's best), a cushion (which yet needs stuffing and also a bed jacket!

Wedding invites

Some of you may know (from reading my blog - beginnings) that my sister is getting married in October 2009. I know it's some way off yet but she's planning and organising things in preparation for when these things actually have to be done....... Anyway, we've a cousin who's partner works at a printers who is going to print the insert for the wedding invites and she's only gone and asked me to help her with making the cards. She wants them all to be slightly different and she also wants me to help with the place names on the tables and favour boxes. I'm no expert when it comes to card making, it's a hobby I've only been doing since last year and I have one regular customer (my mum). I really do hope I can do my sister proud when the time comes for making the cards etc.

Hi everyone
I am into cross stitching. I am working on a Lilliput Lane kit at the moment. I have completed several kits before, with horses, Henry VIII, Winnie the Pooh. I have also done mini samplers for my dolls house as well. I have three dolls houses - a shop and flat I made from a kit, an Art deco house I bought ready made, and a fisherman's cottage I built from scratch. They are all in progress at the moment.
Will post some pics, but will have to go take some!
